Description
Join us for the 1st annual Loppet Adventures Community 5K Fun Ski! The Community 5K Fun Ski is open to the public and will be the Loppet Foundation’s first race to feature our groomed ski trails at Columbia Golf Course. Any and all ages and ability levels welcome.
Immediately following the 5K, stay to cheer on our Junior Loppet teams as they compete in the 2nd annual Northeast Middle School Invitational, a fun series of individual and team relay events featuring the Junior Loppet teams from Northeast, Anwatin and Franklin middle schools.
More about the Junior Loppet Middle School Program:
Through the Junior Loppet program, middle school youth from North Minneapolis learn to mountain bike, cross country ski, trail run, paddle and more. They learn about the benefits of being active in the outdoors – and along the way receive the tools to succeed in school and beyond while reaping the mental and social benefits of outdoor activity. The program is free to students, their families, and schools. We provide coaching, equipment, clothing, and transportation as needed.

Skier Race Bibs
Skiers: Every year we spend thousands of dollars on bibs and the vast majority become waste or end up in a box in a closet. We are transitioning to using reusable bibs at as many of our events as possible. Please plan to remove the bib at the finish and place it in the collection tubs. Thank you for helping us reduce waste and move toward greener events!
Aid Stations
We will have a basic aid station (water, energy, and perhaps basic pre-packaged items) at the finish for all participants.
Spectators:
We love our spectators and will provide additional guidance depending on COVID-19 recommendations from the CDC, Minnesota Dept of Health and MPRB. We are outdoors and have a lot of space for distancing. Please respect the participants by staying out of the start and finish areas.
