Description
We are lacing up our sneakers and getting ready for this year’s Runnin’ For Rescues. The Annual Runnin' For Rescues 5K/10K will take place Saturday, November 23, 2024.The Boaz Parks and Recreation Department wants to thank everyone who has participated in this event as a sponsor, volunteer, or runner/walker for the last 6 years. None of this could happen without the support of the community! We look forward to your continued support this year and in the years to come. Our Diamond Sponsor, Peoples Independent Bank, presents this event.
We are excited to announce a new route for this year’s run. We will be moving the starting/finishing line to the Rec Center located at 400 Elizabeth Street. We are still in the process of creating the actual route but should be able to make an official announcement by May.
As in years past, this event is all about Second Chance Shelter. They are a non-profit, no-kill dog shelter and so much more! They have amazing sponsor and foster programs for those who are not interested in adoption. Doug and Wanda McGee started Second Chance Shelter in 2008 and they have grown to house and care for over 250 dogs at a time. Their passion for animals is not only obvious but also infectious. In order to make this event as successful as possible, we are reaching out to local businesses to be a part of this experience. Your donation will aid Second Chance in their mission to provide quality care for the dogs in their facility before they are adopted. There are eight different sponsor levels, including increased advertisement for each sponsor, depending on the donation.
Come join us for the Annual Runnin' For Rescues 5K/10K Race and run through the beautiful Boaz area. The 5K and 10K will begin and end at the Boaz Recreation Center (400 Elizabeth St. Boaz, AL 35957) with water stations along the route. Finisher medals will be given at the finish line and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age group (male and female) will receive prizes at the awards ceremony. Please register by October 20th in order to be guaranteed a shirt. There will be no refunds, the run will be held rain or shine!
