Real Stories To Help You Fundraise
Below are a few real stories of how the Park City Education Foundation(PCEF) has made an impact. We encourage you to read these and copy/paste your favorite story when you’re fundraising. Include it in your social media post or add it to your fundraising page, email or personal requests for donations.
The Parking Lot Teacher
In 2020, during the earliest months of COVID, teachers and students were directly impacted when transitioning to remote learning. When transitioning to Zoom for class everyday one teacher continued teaching despite not having strong enough wifi at home to host class. She sat in her car, in the school parking lot everyday, just to get enough wifi to teach virtually - in the cold Park City spring. She learned about PCEF’s emergency Express Grants, and requested a wifi hotspot. PCEF issued an express grant that week and bought her a wireless hotspot powerful enough to use at her home. This type of express funding wouldn’t come from anywhere else that quickly, if it weren’t for PCEF and donors like you.
Studying Avalanches and Building Robots
The PCEF invests heavily each year in STEM projects, including our groundbreaking elementary coding program and popular MakerSpaces. These technical programs teach students to think in non-linear ways, take risks, collaborate, and learn through trial and error. All of which make them better prepared for the future and potentially secure the highest paying jobs.
Pre-school for All
Studies show quality, affordable preschool increases high school graduation rates, years of college completed, and lifetime earned income. Not only that, but every dollar PCEF invests in preschool provides a $13 return - because when the achievement gap is addressed before kindergarten, it limits the need for expensive interventions in early elementary years.
PCEF donors support 200 children in PCSD Preschool. Enrollment is limited due to a lack of physical space. “I loved preschool! I get a happy feeling when I think of it. We got to do centers and there was a voting group where you got to choose what you want to do.” — Clark Pitkin, 2nd grader at McPolin Elementary School
The Power of After School
Did you know PCEF funds directly support After School for programs? 500 PCSD students are reached by the After School Program, which provides a safe, supervised, affordable place for kids to go after the final bell rings. Studies show that by 6th grade, children from families with income challenges have 6,000 fewer hours of enrichment time compared to peers. Thanks to your donations, After School is a tool the community can utilize to close that gap here in Park City.
