Race Events
15K — an exciting mixture of rolling hills, big climbs, long descents, and technical challenges
5K — a cool combination of curves, straightaways, and just enough hills to make it interesting
Fun for the Whole Family!
Be sure to bring the little ones along, as the REI Frosty Freestyle features a kids' race for children ages 5 to 11. This event provides youngsters with the opportunity to test their Nordic skiing skills on an kid-friendly course... and each child receives a custom-designed finisher's medal upon completing the race! All children who participated in the Learn to Ski program are automatically registered for the REI Frosty Freestyle Kids' Race; otherwise, the registration fee is $10 per child, payable at Packet Pick-Up/Race-Weekend Registration. Watch for Frosty the Skiing Snowman! He'll be skiing the kids' race and the 5K, and will be hanging around for photos, too!
The Michigan Cup Series
The REI Frosty Freestyle is part of the Michigan Cup Series of cross-country races. The 15K distance is designated as a Senior Freestyle Race: senior racers ages 20 and up will receive Michigan Cup Freestyle Points for completing this event. The 5K distance is classified as a Michigan Cup Series Junior Points Race. Junior racers ages 19 and under will receive Michigan Cup freestyle points for completing the REI Frosty Freestyle 5K. The 5K is also a Michigan Cup Series Fun Race. All senior racers ages 20 and up will receive 10 points for participating in this race.
