Marine O'Brien Ski Race

It is with a heavy heart that we are cancelling the Marine O’Brien Ski Race scheduled for January 19 due to a lack of snow.  

It is an understatement, but this winter season has been challenging in terms of natural snow accumulation.  In order to host a ski race at William O'Brien State Park, we need a lot more snow than the few inches or dusting we currently have on most of the race course.  And the forecast for the remainder of this week does not look conducive to a major and extraordinary snow event.   Unfortunately, the past, current and future weather conditions are not favorable to hosting the Marine O'Brien race this weekend.

We are committed to hosting this race again next year, weather dependent.  The Marine O'Brien Ski Race is a staple within the St. Croix Valley community and beyond, positively supporting our active Nordic XC community and the St Croix Valley Youth Ski Club.  We thank you for your commitment to Minnesota's longest running ski race.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. 

Still the oldest ski race in the Midwest. This race helps support the St. Croix Valley Ski Club, which is teaching kids how to ski and love to ski.

Online registration is closing on January 16th. We highly encourage everyone to register online in advance of the race. After the online registration closes, the only option for registration will be on-site registration before the race.  On-site registration will be $75.
