Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are an oasis of cultural significance, both past and present, and are leading sources for black graduates. However, the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are still lacking proper representation of minority groups, including women. The HBCU STEM Education Run (STEMER) is a virtual run that strives to raise funds and awareness through fitness. Each year, funds are dedicated to an HBCU. Our signature 5K supports our mission to "Educate, Empower, and Elevate HBCU STEM Students through Scholarships and Career Resources".
Race alone, with a friend, or with a team. Whether you are an HBCU alum/student, STEM graduate, or just passionate about education, this run is for you! Come join the virtual or in Huntsville, AL to support STEM education at these crucial institutions.

We are proud to announce Oakwood University as an official HBCU Partner for the 4th Annual HBCU STEM Education Run! Founded in 1896, Oakwood is located in Huntsville, AL aka Rocket City. Here, matriculating students "Enter to learn. Depart to Serve".
The Oakwood University STEM Departments include the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science, Biological Sciences, and Chemistry. Students are trained to pursue graduate studies in STEM, medical school, other professional programs or the STEM workforce. The biblically based education means that you receive training for the mind, body, and soul. Setting you up for success on this earth and in the earth made new.

The Hidden Genius Project
The Hidden Genius Project, a national nonprofit organization, was founded in Oakland in 2012 by five Black male entrepreneurs/technologists who were unnerved by the dramatic juxtaposition between the high unemployment of Black male youth and the plethora of career opportunities within the local technology sector. To address this challenge, the founders established a program to connect young Black males with the skills, mentors, and experiences that they need to become high-performing entrepreneurs and technologists in a 21st century, global economy.
The cornerstone of The Hidden Genius Project is our award-winning Intensive Immersion Program. This FREE, 15- month, cohort-based training program provides Black males in high school with upwards of 800 hours of holistic, trauma/healing-informed, high-touch mentorship and intensive training that seeks to develop youth into strong and responsible leaders equipped with coding and entrepreneurial skills, who can identify and develop tech-enabled solutions to address society’s most compelling challenges. We operate sites in Oakland, Richmond, CA, Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, and Baltimore. Our Catalyst Programs are designed to demystify, debunk, and expose technology-centered skills and pathways for middle and high school youth, in partnership with community-based organizations, school districts, small businesses, and companies.
