I Jog for John in memory of my dad, John Simermeyer. My dad passed in April 2024 after 3 years of living with ALS. ALS was such a short but profound chapter in his life. John was first and foremost an amazing son, brother, husband, father, and friend. Through the onset of his symptoms and diagnosis, he maintained remarkable faith, optimism, and humor. The Brigance Brigade Foundation's support made this outlook possible. Grant funding from the Brigance Brigade Foundation allowed my dad the opportunity to more safely access the home, reducing risk for falls while significantly improving his quality of life. The ability to maintain some sense of normalcy, and to reduce the caregiver burden for as long as possible, was priceless to him.
