The Black Deaf Project is a Black Deaf and hearing collaborative education based 501c(3) nonprofit. Each year, we host the Deaf, Brilliant, and College-Bound Tour. This empowering experience is a free, 3-day, fully accessible college immersion experience in American Sign Language for Deaf Black and Latino 8th-12th graders. Students from across the country, including those from Deaf residential and mainstream day programs, have taken part in this life-changing opportunity.

Our tours have traditionally been hosted in Southern California. In 2026, we want to expose students to Northern California colleges and expand our reach. We are raising $3,000 to fund a charter bus for 55 students and chaperones to visit Sacramento State University (Sac State) in 2026. They will have an opportunity to meet Black Deaf community members, attend a Black cultural museum, visit a community college, engage in leadership development, learn the basics of college access and visit the new Black Honors College at Sac State.
